Pinot Blanc from Devon Slate It may come as a bit of a surprise that the world-famous Dr. Loosen Riesling winery also has a Pinot Blanc in its ranks. However, anyone who tries this wonderfully refreshing white wine will quickly be surprised and delighted. The stimulating, mouth-watering nature of this Pinot Blanc is simply mouth-watering! The sweaty work on the steep slopes is not noticeable in the finished wine. As everywhere on the Middle Moselle, the grapes for the Pinot Blanc are picked by hand and transported through the rows of vines in baskets. The vines grow on red Devon weathered rock and enjoy many hours of sunshine thanks to their exposed south-facing location. The high-quality harvest is carefully vinified in the cellar before maturing in large wooden barrels. In the glass, the Dr. Loosen Pinot Blanc is light yellow with green reflections. The nose is beguilingly fresh with exotic and local fruit notes such as grapefruit, apple and vineyard peach. The elegant minerality can also be clearly tasted, which also penetrates the palate. Today it is one of the best in the whole country, for which one wine in particular is responsible, the Taurasi. In this remarkable red wine, the Aglianico is given the highest honors. It is no coincidence that the Taurasi is on a par with the Amarone or the Barolo. A wine that shines. And all the more so when a renowned producer like Feudi di San Gregorio takes it on.The winery lets the Aglianico vines grow in the original hilly landscape of Irpinia. Around the municipality of Taurasi, which lends its name to the wine, volcanic soils promote the ripening of the grapes. The mash fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks. The wine then matures for 18 months in French oak barrels. After another nine months in the bottle, the Taurasi finally presents itself in its most beautiful perfection. Argentinian top cuvée Eduardo Casademont, chief winemaker of Finca Las Moras, never tires of bottling one top wine after another. This time he has combined his favorite grape variety, Malbec, with the Bonarda grape to create a brilliant red wine cuvée called "Mora Negra". The grapes come from two different valleys in the San Juan wine region. The Malbec grows at an altitude of up to 1,350 meters in the mild climate of the Pedernal Valley. From there it brings with it a fabulous freshness and intense fruit. The Bonarda ripens slightly lower and at significantly hotter temperatures in the 650 meter high Tulum Valley. The grapes are picked by hand when they are very ripe. Fermentation in stainless steel tanks is followed by 15 months of aging in new barrels made of American and French oak. During this time the wine develops spicy and smoky aromas. 8 more months in the bottle also make it appear velvety and balanced. A deep purple sparkles in the glass. The scent is initially characterized by the dark berry notes that give the Mora Negra its name, but over time red fruits and hints of cooked figs also become noticeable. On top is a trace of sweet spices such as vanilla and a hint of smoke. On the palate, the Mora Negra impresses with its vital freshness, which is due to the high Malbec content of 70%. The deep fruit and inner strength of this wine are also carried by velvety tannins, which carry the elegant taste through to the long finish. An impressive experience!
