1. Gimlet

The Gimlet is a simple cocktail that only has a few ingredients but still offers a full taste experience. The cocktail was invented by the British on a high seas voyage. Because of the days-long journeys at sea, the sailors had lots of lemons and limes with them so that they didn't run out of vitamin C. To prevent the citrus fruits from rotting during the journey, they put them in sugar syrup. The Lime Juice Cordial was born! But this juice tasted terrible on its own, which is why the sailors refined the taste with gin. The result was the Gimlet!

1 glass

2 minutes

Ingredients

  • 6 cl Dry Gin
  • 2/4 cl Lime Cordial (e.g. Rose's Lime Juice)
  • Ice cubes
  • Garnish: lime zest

preparation

  1. Mix all ingredients in a glass until cold, for at least 30 seconds.
  2. Decorate with lime zest
  3. Optionally, you can add a splash of lime juice. This will give the gimlet a little more freshness!

The right glass

To perfectly enjoy your Gimlet, we recommend using the Coupette glass .

2. Negroni

Negroni, like most of its ingredients, comes from Italy. It is particularly suitable as a pre-dinner cocktail, as its sweet yet bitter taste stimulates the appetite. The mixed drink was created between 1919 and 1920 in Florence in the Caffè Casoni (now Caffè Giacosa). It was named after Count Camillo Negroni, who wanted his Americano to be a little stronger. The bartender then replaced the soda water with gin. The Negroni was born!

1 glass

2 minutes

Ingredients

  • 3 cl Dry Gin
  • 3 cl Campari
  • 3 cl red vermouth
  • Ice cubes
  • Garnish: orange zest

preparation

  1. Stir gin, Campari and red vermouth in a glass with a few ice cubes.
  2. Garnish with orange zest

The right glass

The best glass for the Negroni is the tumbler glass, which is also known as the old-fashioned glass.

3.Dry Martini

The Dry Martini is a real cocktail icon and James Bond's favorite! Nobody knows exactly how and by whom the Martini cocktail was invented. But what we do know:

It was first mentioned in writing in the USA in 1888 in a book by Harry Johnson. At the time, the film spy's favorite drink tasted very sweet because it contained orange liqueur. But the sweetness was soon replaced by a drier style that has remained in use to this day. Since then, there have been many variations of the Martini cocktail. James Bond, for example, preferred his Martini with vodka rather than gin. Ultimately, it's all a matter of personal taste.

1 glass

2 minutes

Ingredients

  • 5cl Gin
  • 1cl leaves vermouth
  • 1-3 olives or 1 lemon zest
  • Ice cubes

preparation

  1. Place ice cubes, gin and vermouth in a mixing glass and stir well until ice cold.
  2. Pour the mixture into a chilled martini glass, leaving out the remaining ice.
  3. Serve the finished martini garnished with a lemon zest or an olive in a wooden skewer.

The right glass

To enjoy your Martini perfectly, you should serve it in the glass that got its name from the cocktail: the Martini glass.
