Apulia with a difference Apulia - but not Primitivo! With this short formula, the Virgolato invites explorers and lovers of full-bodied red wines to a new wine experience. Because Primitivo may be on everyone's lips, but "Virgolato" is the wine of the moment! Why this is so is clear to anyone who has tried this wine slightly chilled. That is when the advantages of this Rosso come into their own. Fresh fruit and an elegant body nestle against the palate. Juicy, cherry-like and subtly spicy, the Virgolato rolls along the tongue and is soft and balanced. No wonder, since the three old southern Italian grape varieties Negroamaro, Malvasia Nera and Nero di Troia were brought into perfect harmony. With this wine, amazement is simply allowed. Because so much fruit and freshness is quite unusual for a red wine - especially at this moderate price. Try for yourself what Apulia can taste like and enjoy the Virgolato at 12 to 14 degrees simply on its own or with delicious grilled dishes.

The best of tradition and modernity When we talk about highly individual wines with strong character, we quickly end up with Barolo. The combination of light red color, fine fruit, strong structure and enormous storage capacity is simply unique in the world of wine. It is no wonder that the impressive wines from the small municipality of the same name in Piedmont enjoy great fame. The Villa Pani Barolo from winemaker Stella Grasso provides you with a modern taste of its highest class. Stella has known the vineyards of Piedmont since she was a child. She comes from Canelli, which is about 30 kilometers east of the Barolo region. She studied oenology in Alba before heading out into the wide world. In Australia, Stella then became acquainted with a very modern, international red wine style, which she has been incorporating into the Villa Pani winery since she returned home. She matures the Barolo in barriques for an extra long time. "Unlike the large barrels, the small barrique gives the wine more of its soft wood aromas. This makes the taste rounder and the sometimes somewhat prickly Barolo accessible a little earlier," explains Stella. The Barolo from Villa Pani is stored in barriques for an impressive 38 months before it is bottled. The wine appears very classic in the glass: a light garnet red sparkles at you. The typical cherry fruit and fine spice notes are immediately present on the nose, accompanied by delicate caramel aromas. On the tongue, the Barolo then positions itself with a powerful body and juicy tartaric acid. In fact, the structure is very polished, despite the present tannins. The long finish reveals fine vanilla notes. The young Stella, that much is clear after tasting, combines tradition and modernity in the best way in this Barolo. See for yourself and try this wonderful red wine both on its own and with strong dishes with truffles and mature cheese.

White wine JEWEL from Rheinhessen When people talk about a wine jewel, Riesling often has a hand in it. And that's the case here too. Rheinhessen winemaker Juliane Eller makes a brilliant estate wine from the flagship white grape variety. She and her team pick the grapes by hand from selected vineyards around the community of Alsheim. The trained oenologist then takes the utmost care in the cellar, where the harvest is carefully processed. Juliane then matures the wine in steel tanks so that the fresh fruit of the Riesling is bottled as unadulterated as possible. The bouquet of the JUWEL Riesling already matches the elegant bottle design. A fine scent of peach and fresh lime wafts from the glass. On the palate, the wine then reveals itself with great juiciness and a delicate interplay of sweetness and acidity. A Riesling that is simply fun. And that's true - thanks to the moderate alcohol content - even with the second bottle. At just 23 years old, Juliane Eller took over her parents' winery and turned it completely upside down after taking over. Away from the original machinery and towards manual work, the vines were reduced to the five main grape varieties and only dry wines are produced. For Juliane Eller, the grapes are like precious stones that only become JEWELS when cut correctly.

Oho, what a Rosato! Primitivo is prime time all year round. As intensely fruity and soft as Apulia's flagship grape variety is, you simply don't want to miss out on the taste at any time. Primitivo doesn't just shine as a red wine. In the Fiore del Sud Primitivo Rosato you can now also discover its pink-red advantages. In the fridge this seducer automatically pushes itself to the front... Because the fresh berries, which offer a delicious potpourri of strawberries, raspberries and red currants, always invite you to enjoy it. Very juicy and harmonious, the Rosato nestles on the palate and knows how to convince not only as a soloist. With its subtle fruity sweetness, it also goes excellently with spicy dishes from Asian cuisine at a crisp six to eight degrees. Luca Maroni is also one of the biggest fans of Fiore del Sud. Italy's "wine pope" gave the Primitivo Rosato a very high score. Another reason why this wine is a must-try. Grab your supplies quickly and toast to the moment when the pink sloshing around in your glass takes over!

Elegance meets fruit What happens when the world's most famous white wine varieties - Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc - are processed by a first-class producer like Luna Argenta? The result is an exceptionally fruity white wine that is perfect for toasting the day with friends! For that extra kick of freshness, the grapes are quickly brought to the cellar after harvest. The result is a Bianco Appassimento with lots of fruit and great elegance. The Luna Argenta winery (Italian for "silver moon") relies on the power of the moon in its wine creations. The moon has a great influence on the growth of the grapes through its ebb and flow control lunar phases. Super Superiore! When you hear the name "Asti", do you first think of the famous Asti Spumante, the sweet, white sparkling wine from Piedmont? Then you might be surprised to learn that the vineyards around the city of Asti are largely planted with red wine. The Barbera grape variety clearly sets the tone here. And not just in terms of area. Since 2008, Barbera d'Asti has had the status of a DOCG region, the highest Italian level for quality wines. But that's not all: A Barbera d'Asti Superiore, such as the one produced by the Villa Pani winery, goes one step further in terms of quality... "A Barbera d'Asti requires four months of maturation, whereas a Barbera d'Asti Superiore matures for at least 14 months," explains Stella Grasso. The young winemaker heads up red wine production at Villa Pani and, as a true Piedmontese, is very familiar with the region's peculiarities. "To give the wine more depth and flavor, our Superiore is stored for the full 14 months in small 225-liter barriques. The typical cherry fruit of the Barbera also comes out even better," Stella is sure. In fact, her ruby-red Superiore with its powerful fruit aromas invites you to enjoy it straight away. Piedmont cherry, plum, violet, basil and fine spices characterize the scent. On the palate you feel the stately body and great harmony. Juicy, finely structured and long-lasting, this Barbera d'Asti Superiore is one thing above all: super! Try its excellent quality on its own, with pasta, mature cheese or spicy dishes from the grill.

Elegant Chardonnay from the Mosel When Markus Molitor took over his father's winery at just 20 years old, his vision was already very clear and ambitious: to help the Mosel regain its former glory with individual, site-specific and storable wines. Today we have to say: he has succeeded impressively! With his legendary Rieslings, Markus Molitor is considered one of the most important German wine ambassadors abroad. But the maestro is not only enthusiastic about Riesling. His Haus Klosterberg Chardonnay is so complex, fresh and typical of Molitor that one can only be amazed by the repertoire of its creator...The grapes for this premium Chardonnay are carefully picked by hand, ground and macerated on the berry skins for several hours. The must is then fermented slowly and coolly, allowing the natural fruit to fully develop. After fermentation, the wine is gently aged in wooden barrels and stainless steel tanks with long yeast storage. The result is a fruity, elegant and complex white wine that offers a distinctive taste experience. The nose is fruity and mineral at the same time and makes you want to take the first sip. The wine then presents itself very balanced, fresh and fine on the palate, where it reveals its elegant fruitiness, underpinned by fine tannins. After tasting it, we immediately agreed: Markus Molitor also masters the Chardonnay with flying colors! Enjoy this top wine on its own or combine it with salads, asparagus dishes or creamy soups.

Pinot Blanc from Devon Slate It may come as a bit of a surprise that the world-famous Dr. Loosen Riesling winery also has a Pinot Blanc in its ranks. However, anyone who tries this wonderfully refreshing white wine will quickly be surprised and delighted. The stimulating, mouth-watering nature of this Pinot Blanc is simply mouth-watering! The sweaty work on the steep slopes is not noticeable in the finished wine. As everywhere on the Middle Moselle, the grapes for the Pinot Blanc are picked by hand and transported through the rows of vines in baskets. The vines grow on red Devon weathered rock and enjoy many hours of sunshine thanks to their exposed south-facing location. The high-quality harvest is carefully vinified in the cellar before maturing in large wooden barrels. In the glass, the Dr. Loosen Pinot Blanc is light yellow with green reflections. The nose is beguilingly fresh with exotic and local fruit notes such as grapefruit, apple and vineyard peach. The elegant minerality can also be clearly tasted, which also penetrates the palate. Here the wine is pleasantly gentle with a delicate acid structure and good substance. The mouthfeel is creamy and fresh at the same time. A harmonious play of sweetness and acidity and a solid length ultimately lead to the only conclusion: Dr. Loosen can also make Pinot Blanc. And how!

Homage to Portofino "I found my love in Portofino" - that's how the French music icon Dalida sang the song by the duo Chiosso-Buscaglione at the end of the 1950s about the picturesque port town near Genoa. And in doing so, she made it famous almost overnight. Since then, not only tourists but also world stars have been flocking to the small town. In the past, it was Frank Sinatra and Brigitte Bardot; today it is the summer residence of such famous families as Armani and Prada. Their holiday homes may not be accessible to the average tourist. But there is something that is shared locally. Namely, the high-quality wines, whose grapes grow on the lush slopes high above the dreamy harbor. This is exactly where the grapes for the great Portofino homage by Cantina Volpi come from. The "Rosafino" Rosato is made from 100 percent Grenache. A grape variety that is rarely found in Liguria, but which nevertheless brings the full Italian feeling of life into the glass: rich fruit (blackberry, black currant and black cherry) is paired with an enchanting freshness and a magnificent liveliness. Every sip is an enjoyable short vacation!

Sicily sends rays of sunshine The Settesoli Grillo Appassimento is one of the first Appassimento wines on the German market and is therefore right on trend. In this special process, the grapes are left on the vine to dry naturally and are not harvested until late September or early October. This gives them their characteristic aromas. The Cantine Settesoli was founded in Menfi, a city steeped in history. To the west, you can see the historic ruins of Selinunte, the old Greek city. The Settesoli headquarters itself is on a gentle slope by the sea. This good location, combined with the mild climate, also forms the basis for the characteristic wines. The grapes benefit from the light-flooded environment and the warm sun.
